"That's what they're saying about me now? That I'm paranoid...?"

This piece is combination of two drawings. I drew the rain on a separate sheet of paper (because I knew I would ruin the original piece) and I went through four different variations of rain before settling on this one. I layered it on top of the main piece and word balloons in Photoshop.

I've always had this shot burned in my head where Rorschach "pages" Batman via the Batsignal on top of roof of the Gotham Police Department. His hands in his pockets, waiting, and Batman answers and they stand, facing each other, in front of the floodlight, with rays of the light surrounding their silhouettes and the rain pouring down. Batman speaks to him coldly, "I've heard of you. They say you're insane." To which, Rorschach replies, "Funny. They say the same thing about you."

These two would never get along, although they are more similar than they would care to admit. They're both disturbed, apathetic, revenge-fueled, single-minded, right-wing, black-and-white crusaders of justice. However, Batman would consider Rorschach's method's too harsh, while Rorschach would consider Batman's too soft. They're far too stubborn, too arrogant, too set-in-their ways, and too much of slaves to their own sense of morality. They would be at each other's throats in no time. (I really wanted Rorschach, a man who expresses so little emotion, to say "funny" because I love his lack of humour he gives to the "human bean juice" and the "Pagliacci" joke. And I also wanted to emphasise their height differences. Rorschach is 5'6" and Batman's 6'2" — and they both where elevated shoes, lulz! Even though they're "sizing" each other up, Rorschach wouldn't be a guy who be intimidated by the bigger, stronger, gadgety, better trained Batman.)
